Rotten Egg?

This morning Bradley and I challenged Dave to a race. We were all in the basement. I said to Bradley "hey, tell dad that the last one upstairs is a rotten egg". Bradley did as I had asked and then ran as fast as he could, BUT was so disappointed that he wasn't the rotten egg. Bradley loves being the winner, and therefore thinks that being a rotten egg is something great. He asked if we could change it to say 'the first one to ... is a rotten egg' and then he would try to win so he could be 'The Rotten Egg'. I don't know if I should try to explain that being a rotten egg isn't a good thing or just enjoy that he wants to win and does what I ask if 'the first one to... is a rotten egg'. It produces great results!(for now anyway!)

Ready for What?

Yesterday Dave went out to mow the lawn and Bradley wanted to go out too. He asked me if he could go out and I told him he could as long as he got dressed first. This is his version of getting dressed. But is he ready for Bed or Play? Oh how I love my Bradley!
Colter wanted in on the action-what a poser, can you tell?

It's a Miracle!

With alot of Spray-n-Wash, Tide with Bleach, and Oxy Clean my whites are no longer stained with Red Crayon! I'm still debating on my friendship with Red crayon...

5th grade & 2nd grade! Hurray!

The girls have been so excited to go back to school. I'm not sure if its because they miss their friends or if its because they're going back to the NEW school? Or both.
Last night Dally couldn't sleep, she was so excited! She was up until 12:30am, poor kid! Morning came really fast for her. Drea was oblivious to the excitement and slept good and got up and going quickly! (That's not usual for her!)
Being back at the new school means we have our old time schedule back, which I am thrilled about. They go to school early and are all done for the day with time to still play before doing homework. I'm glad to say that I won't miss the getting home at 4:30pm schedule!
Mr. B missed his sister and asked several times during the day where Drea was. I think it will take some adjusting for him not having his 'friends' (aka, sisters) here. Tonight at bed time he asked if we could please go pick up the girls after school tomorrow. Not sure how long I'll keep up that routine.

Someone really needs to show me how to use the video function on my camera!

Drea with her awesome friends!
(Hurray for good friends!)

Dally and gang
(no need to worry,
they're not trouble!)

mom: 'hey, Dally, are you so excited for the 1st day of school?'

Dally: (see expression for response)

(this was taken after school)
Photographic proof that everyone
survived the 1st day of school!
Which means there will be a 2nd day!

Red Crayon

Me and red crayons are no longer friends! Never mind that red is used to color hair, clothes or fruit in coloring books! You see- there was a red crayon at our house that didn't know its place! It took up a hiding place in my DRIER of all places. How was I to know that it was hiding there when I put a LARGE load of whites in to dry? I ask you, how do you teach red crayons where there place is in this world? (poor helpless whites)

In a Jam!

Thanks to our very kind neighbors who shared some Plums with us we now have more jam than we know what to do with! These plums were so pretty, and good tasting. While making the jam our house smelled so sweet, almost like cherries. My kids can hardly wait to have lunch so they can have some on their sandwich.
A funny side note- last week I was given some apricots. Guess what I did with them? I made freezer jam. I think we won't be finding ourselves is a jam for jam!
Now, when Christmas rolls around, who knows, you might get some jam...some yummy Plum jam!

'Can I do that?'

Yesterday I watched my friends kids while she went to a wedding. I am always trying to multi-task, something we mothers do. I was loading the dishwasher as the boys played in the kitchen. My friends little boy was very fascinated with what I was doing- loading dirty dished into a box like contraption. He stopped playing and came to stand by me to see 'what I was doing'. After getting everything loaded in I started to close the dishwasher when he asked,' can I close it'? I was so dumbfounded that something so simple and mundane could be so interesting to a 5 year old. It got me thinking...how grateful I am to have a dishwasher. Something I have just taken for granite. Thanks to my little friend who opened my eyes and reminded me to be grateful for everything I have!

Dog Napper? Who Me?

You be the judge! Do I deserve a pat on the back and a big thanks or a 'go straight to jail'?
My parents have been out of town, so I thought I'd go get one of their dogs and bring her to my house to 'play' with my dogs. Sounds nice, right? (just so you know- my parents have someone watching their dogs while their gone, they are not left all alone!!) I took the boys with me, in jammies and all!
Lady Belle was so excited to see us (so were the other dogs!). We brought her home. :) Miss Kitty and Prilla were thrilled to have a friend. They spent the day together, doing what dogs do...barking, sniffing each other bums and sleeping on the couch! What a perfect doggy day out, right? WRONG! When I went and got Lady Belle I didn't leave a note letting anyone know that I had taken her (why would I need to? The dog sitter wouldn't be coming by until later, and I'd have her home by the time they came by). WRONG AGAIN! The dog sitter came by not long after I was there and panicked (hopefully that's the right adjective!) when they couldn't find Lady Belle! He called the pound, he called the city to see if they had picked up a dog matching her description. With no luck! He tried calling my dad to find out if the dog had a microchip, so that if she was found they could identify her and hopefully return her home. With no luck! Thank goodness, we don't need to worry my dad! After several hours of searching and phone calls he calls my brother. My brother called me to see if I have Lady Belle, I was shocked that he could have known. After replying that I did indeed have her he told me what a mess I had created! I thought I was doing something nice? hum? Was I?
You be the judge... Should I get thanked or 'go straight to jail'?

My Hero!

For longer than I am willing to admit there has been a mild 'rain storm' under my kitchen sink. And last month my disposal decided to quick working! I quickly trained my kids to scrape all food into the garbage before rinsing their dishes. Needless to say, I dreaded doing the dishes or even turning the water on...
This past weekend my wonderful husband, with his sleeves rolled up, tackled the daunting plumbing problems. Hardware store he did go! And ta-da, no more leaky faucet. He took the disposal apart and found a cherry pit (with stem still in tact) had lodged itself into the grinder mechanism. Problem fixed, sink put back together! My husband, he's MY HERO! I love doing the dishes again! (ya, right! Whom I kidding?)

Dave's idea of food storage

Tonight as I started getting ready to fire up the grill for a BBQ what do I find? A hot dog. Once single, lonely hot dog. Already been cooked non-the-less (last week!) Is this really a good way to store food? Who's idea was this anyway? Well at our house Dave usually does all the BBQing, so it must be him! I got a good laugh and then had to go get everyone (but Dave) and tell them about my find. They laughed with me. Then I thought...'this would make a great blog', 'I'd better hurry and get the camera'. Is this really Dave's idea of food storage? No, but it sure if funny! By the way, there were no takers for that single lonely hot dog. :)

Drum Roll, Please!

and results are...glossy bum, but the diaper rash remains! What a bummer! Looks like another trip to the store is in order. I'll read the labels better this time. :)

Diaper Rash Cream?

Last night I ran to the store to buy some diaper rash cream for Colters sore little bum! While standing in the Isle staring at what seems like a millions different brands my eye is caught by one that come in an applicator like lipgloss. I take it off the shelf...its called 'Boudreaux's Baby Kisses'. I've heard of Boudreaux's before, they make butt paste. This applicator must be the new way of dispensing the somewhat thick and nasty stuff, cool! A quick glance at the box tells me that it is good for soothing and healing...chapped cheeks. So excited to have found what I had come for I made my way to the checkout. After returning home I show my great find to Dave. I rip open the box and head to find Colter. Upon squeezing out the thick and nasty stuff I notice that it isn't so thick or nasty, but almost like lipgloss...hum? oh-well, I'm just going to quickly apply it and hopefully we see some quick results! Mission accomplished, I find Dave to tell him how cool this butt cream is because its not thick and white like I remembered it being. I pick up the box and read it again...only to notice that it says 'Soothes and helps heal dry, chapped lips and cheeks'. Oh-no! what have I done? this is for babies faces, not bums! Well, I'll have to report back after Colter wakes up to let you know if this lipgloss healed his diaper rash!
