Hey! Look Mom!

This morning as I was getting the boys ready to run errands. We were going upstairs to put on our coats (I hate this cold rainy weather!) when Bradley noticed we had left the T.V. on. The show that was on was the BYU Devotional. Bradley said: Hey! Look Mom, its your favorite show.

Hmm, why does he think this? I don't EVER watch the BYU devotionals, but I did just watch General Conference. Maybe that's what he was thinking. :)
I am once again amazed at what my kids think. There is nothing wrong with having the BYU devotionals be my 'favorite' show, perhaps that's where I could make a change.

Candy Notzi

Some of you may already know...I am a candy notzi! Now don't get me wrong, because I do love candy, but when I have something I really like I save it. The problem is that I may never eat it. Every year my Grandma makes us the coolest easter eggs with our names on them and various other yummy edible chocolates, but because I love them I think 'I'll save these for another time'. And a year goes by and we get easter chocolates AGAIN, and I have to throw out my last years candy! Crazy, I know. This year I ate my chocolates and didn't save them.
This past spring my brother and his wife went to Germany (and many places in Europe) and when they came home they brought home "The Best Gift Ever!". They gave our kids a paper bag full of German chocolate in different varities. I was told I could be in charge of when to give it to them. (can you guess when I gave it to them?) I brought the bag home and put it in the top of my closet not to be forgotten (ya, right!) but so little hands wouldn't get into it. I did forget about it until about a month ago! We gave all the kids a piece and put it back into the closet. Today Dallas asked Dave for a piece of the candy to which he replied "yes" (he does not have my same notzi mentallity). She picked out an egg shaped chocolate, but when she bit into it found it had something inside. It was really a plastic egg just covered in chocolate. I've never seen anything like this! Inside the plastic egg is a toy. Dallas' egg had a sports car inside that she had to put together and decorate with stickers. After Aundrea and Bradley saw what Dallas had they quickly wanted one too. Bradley's egg had a compass in it. Aundrea's egg had a moose that kicks a soccer ball.
I've learned my lesson. Life is too short and there are toys waiting to be played with when you save your chocolate. Now if only this statement to you all was therapy enough I'm sure I'd be cured of my stingyness. Let's give it a try. Time will tell.

Rotten Egg?

This morning Bradley and I challenged Dave to a race. We were all in the basement. I said to Bradley "hey, tell dad that the last one upstairs is a rotten egg". Bradley did as I had asked and then ran as fast as he could, BUT was so disappointed that he wasn't the rotten egg. Bradley loves being the winner, and therefore thinks that being a rotten egg is something great. He asked if we could change it to say 'the first one to ... is a rotten egg' and then he would try to win so he could be 'The Rotten Egg'. I don't know if I should try to explain that being a rotten egg isn't a good thing or just enjoy that he wants to win and does what I ask if 'the first one to... is a rotten egg'. It produces great results!(for now anyway!)

Red Crayon

Me and red crayons are no longer friends! Never mind that red is used to color hair, clothes or fruit in coloring books! You see- there was a red crayon at our house that didn't know its place! It took up a hiding place in my DRIER of all places. How was I to know that it was hiding there when I put a LARGE load of whites in to dry? I ask you, how do you teach red crayons where there place is in this world? (poor helpless whites)

Drum Roll, Please!

and results are...glossy bum, but the diaper rash remains! What a bummer! Looks like another trip to the store is in order. I'll read the labels better this time. :)

Diaper Rash Cream?

Last night I ran to the store to buy some diaper rash cream for Colters sore little bum! While standing in the Isle staring at what seems like a millions different brands my eye is caught by one that come in an applicator like lipgloss. I take it off the shelf...its called 'Boudreaux's Baby Kisses'. I've heard of Boudreaux's before, they make butt paste. This applicator must be the new way of dispensing the somewhat thick and nasty stuff, cool! A quick glance at the box tells me that it is good for soothing and healing...chapped cheeks. So excited to have found what I had come for I made my way to the checkout. After returning home I show my great find to Dave. I rip open the box and head to find Colter. Upon squeezing out the thick and nasty stuff I notice that it isn't so thick or nasty, but almost like lipgloss...hum? oh-well, I'm just going to quickly apply it and hopefully we see some quick results! Mission accomplished, I find Dave to tell him how cool this butt cream is because its not thick and white like I remembered it being. I pick up the box and read it again...only to notice that it says 'Soothes and helps heal dry, chapped lips and cheeks'. Oh-no! what have I done? this is for babies faces, not bums! Well, I'll have to report back after Colter wakes up to let you know if this lipgloss healed his diaper rash!
