It's all fun and games until...

All I can say is how happy I am to have a wonderful husband with great EMT skills! If he had not been home I totally would have taken Colter to the hospital!

Colter was playing with one of the girls hair while they were working on a puzzle on the hearth of our fireplace. It sounds like he would pull there hair (like it was a rope) and then fall back onto the floor and laugh. He loved it, his sister did not! She asked him not to do it, but before HE decided to stop and injury insued :( He must have hit his face on the edge of the piano or the corner of the rocking chair! He layed on the floor after it happened and cried all the while blood was pooling on his face. By the time we got to him we thought his eye was bleeding, thank goodness it wasn't! It ended up being a 1/4 inch cut next to his eye. All the kids, including a neighbor friend were a little freaked out by the amount of blood.

(Someone was injured in the pre-shooting of these pictures :()

I am happy to report how brave Colter was! The rest of the kids cried more than he did! He layed on the floor while we fixed him up; mostly confused about all the drama around him.

This morning I need to figure out how to wash the blood out of his hair without getting his steristrip wet, wish me luck!

A dallop of 'Daisy'

Tonight while making dinner (Enchilada's) I opened the lid of the sour cream to find a wonderful quote! Gotta love Daisy Sour Cream! The quote was: The most precious thing one can make is a friend. It made me think of how many people I call friends. I am so glad that 'you' are one of them. By reading my blog you must be someone who knows me and regards me as someone you want to know more about or care about.

Last week I got a card in the mail from a friend (shocking that people still use snail mail! I know!) The letter started out telling me they loved me and they thought I needed to be reminded of that. It went on to express love and appreciation for my friendship. What was interesting to me was that this letter came from someone who doesn't have a lot of time on their hands and nothing to do, just the opposite! They have had some very big changes in their life, stressful changes!, but they were taking the time to reflect on the friendships they had. Again, I thought of how many people I value as my friends. I wish I could mail a letter to every single one of you telling you how much you mean to me, how much strength I receive from you! It doesn't matter to me how many friends I have, but that each one is invaluable, and not one of them could be replaced with another!

Thanks for being one of the most precious things made!

Hey! Look Mom!

This morning as I was getting the boys ready to run errands. We were going upstairs to put on our coats (I hate this cold rainy weather!) when Bradley noticed we had left the T.V. on. The show that was on was the BYU Devotional. Bradley said: Hey! Look Mom, its your favorite show.

Hmm, why does he think this? I don't EVER watch the BYU devotionals, but I did just watch General Conference. Maybe that's what he was thinking. :)
I am once again amazed at what my kids think. There is nothing wrong with having the BYU devotionals be my 'favorite' show, perhaps that's where I could make a change.

To you, to you!?

Colter's way of saying 'Happy Birthday' is: to you to you!

The tradition is that I post an entry on my kids birthdays. And here it is 11pm! I have an hour to accomplish it!

Then: April 1st, 2006

Upon waking up in the morning I started noticing that every time the baby (Colter) moved I would leak fluid. I thought it was my bladder. I gave it no thought.
Dave had a large family photo shoot; we pawned our kids off to a babysitter and off we went. I, all along the way would leak a small amount of fluid whenever the baby moved.
Not until the end of the photo shoot did I start thinking that it could be more than my bladder :)
Around 1pm we decided to go to the hospital to have it checked out. No contractions. We made a few stops on our way (we weren't in a hurry). Dave hadn't eaten lunch so we stopped and got him something to eat and ran to the bank to make a deposit.
After being checked at the hospital and discovering that it was my water and not my bladder I was quickly admitted and given my first dose of anit-biotics (as I was strep-b positive) and told to walk around to see if I could get my labor started on my own. Around 2:30 labor starts. Which was very VERY painful. Things progressed very VERY quickly. Around 5:45 I asked (begged) for an epidural, which they tried to talk me out of because they knew that my chart said I had not wanted one! They told me to think about it for 15-20 and then if I still wanted one I could have one. Just before 6pm the doctor started my second dose of anti-biotics and checked me again. I was almost a 10, but he had me push anyways. Colter was born 4 minutes later. So small with the most beautiful cry! He weighed 6 pound 14 ounces and 19 inches.

Now: April 1st, 2009

(no children, or Colter were harmed in the taking of this picture)

Colter is such a cool kid! We had a great birthday party last Saturday with family. It was a Hot Dog BBQ, just what Colter wanted! It was the best 3-year old party he's ever had :)

Chango Bars

I LOVE recipes! Love them. I collect them, but only if they're good. My daughter must have this same gene; the other day at school when she was looking through a book she found a recipe and wrote it down! She wanted me to have it (and I'm sure she'd love it if we made them :))

If you make this yummy recipe, take a picture and send it to us, and when we get around to making them we'll post a picture for you all. Happy Treating!

Chango Bars:
1/2 Cup Butter
1/2 Cup Margarine
2 Cups Brown Sugar
3 eggs
2 1/3 Cups Flour
1 Tablespoon Baking Powder
1 teaspoon Salt
1 Cup Chocolate Chips
1 Cup Mixed Nuts

Melt butter and margarine.
While this is melting, cream brown sugar and eggs, then add melted butter and margarine.
Combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir into sugar mixture.
Fold in chocolate chips and nuts; pour mixture into a greased 9X13 baking pan.
Bake 45 to 50 minutes at 350.

(The recipe doesn't say to do this, but I would chop the nuts.)

Confessions of a ...

For those of you who know me well, I am not a super social person. Don't get me wrong, I can talk your ear off, but getting out and doing things is not my thing! I'm a stick-close-to-home kinda person. Dave has said to so many times during our married life that I should 'find something I like to do'. Apparently I haven't found it, not for a lack of looking :) haha! So before I share with you my real blog entry, I have a confession to make!...

I don't know what my 'aholic' is!

I'm not talking about things that I do that are a waste of my time, but things that I love doing and will do at what ever expense! Now while I have you in the role of my 'shrink', what am I suffering from? :) What's the antidote? Where do I go from here?

On with the real entry now....

Dave and I have had these movie passes lying around 'forever'! The movie passes expired March 31, 2009. For several weeks we've talked about using them, but something kept getting in the way (a photo shoot, ornery kids). I really wanted to take the girls to see Escape to Witch Mountain, but they thought the trailer was too scary!? We settled on Confessions of a Shopaholic. Due some emotional meltdown, one of them didn't go with me, so instead Bradley came along! (lol) Two kids in tow off we went. Bradley was so excited to go to a REAL movie theater and Drea was just happy to do something fun.

Upon leaving the theater I asked the kids if they liked the movie. Bradley said he liked it all except the yucky parts?! When asked about the yucky parts his reply was the kissing! Aundrea said she liked the movie but thought the clothing wasn't very modest. So what do I think? I think its great that my son thinks kissing is grose and hopefully he'll keep that opinion until after his mission. I think it's great that Aundrea understands the importance or modesty! Not only did I have a good time tonight, but I learned that my kids are aware of what is good and right! And that was the best part of the movie for me!

I give Confessions of a Shopaholic 4 stars.

You're tired of green?

I am always posting Aundrea's story's and think Dallas is feeling a little left out. Tonight as I was getting ready to turn off the computer and head to bed I found a piece of Dallas school work...A story! Dallas is also a fabulous writer, like her sister. I am hoping she'll allow me to share some of her other stories someday...until then enjoy this one!

The assignment:
Choose a topic from below and write a letter to a leprechaun. You can choose an appropriate name for the leprechaun! Choose interesting words to make your paragraph interesting.
*You're tired of green. Persuade a leprechaun to wear another color-perhaps hot pink!

Dear Sunny,
I think that you should wear yellow instead of green. I think you should wear yellow because green isn't all happy and cheerful. Aren't holidays supposed to be happy and full of cheer? Well I think that they are, so that is why you should wear yellow. Yellow is a happier color and bright so that you can be noticed. And besides, yellow is the new khaki (joking!). Everyone will love the new you. It just fits you, sunny and yellow. The sun is yellow, so that is why I think you should wear yellow instead of green. :)

From,
Dallas Ward

(just as my own side note for any who follow my blog-don't give up on me! I will return to blogging more consistently when I have more time for it!)
Love to you all!
